17th Edition Update - City Guilds 2382-20

If you already have your 16th Edition wiring regs qualification, City & Guilds 2381 and have had it since June 2001, you only need to update your knowledge and attend the 17th Edition Update course. The 17th Edition electrical qualification is called the 2382-20. If your qualification was obtained prior to June 2001 you will need to attend the full 3 Day 17th Edition training course. This electrical qualification is called 2382-10. The aim of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulation update training course is to provide delegates with an awareness of the main alterations and additions incorporated in BS 7671:2008. (17th Edition)
The 17th Edition Update course aims to update delegates on the significant differences between the 16th and 17th editions. The 17th Edition Update course will focus on the main additions and alterations that have been incorporated in the 2008 (17th) edition.

Who Should Attend 17th Edition Update Training courses?

The 17th Edition Update course is primarily aimed at practising electricians and other allied professionals e.g. electrical engineers, contracts managers, designers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades with a good working knowledge of BS 7671, who have already achieved the City & Guilds Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671: 2001) (2381) or recognized equivalent. It should be noted that limited instruction will be provided on existing requirements and electrical science.

17th Edition Training Update Course Content

There are eight units making up the 17th Edition Update course relating to Parts 1-7 and the Appendices of BS 7671:2008:

• Object and fundamental principles
• Definitions
• Assessment of general characteristics
• Protection for safety
• Selection and erection of equipment
• Inspection and testing
• Special installations or locations
• Appendices  

Important Information

• Delegates must take their existing 16th Edition certificate to show the instructor on the morning of the 17th Edition Update training course.
