What is the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers Course?

The SHEA Drains and Sewers programme content and scheme specification have been developed in collaboration with The National Association of Drainage Contractors (NADC). Programme material is produced and managed by Energy & Utility Skills on the drainage and sewerage industry’s behalf. The content is reviewed periodically.

The Utility Safety Health and Environment Awareness (SHEA) portfolio of schemes have been developed in conjunction with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.

What’s Included in the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers Course?

The classroom SHEA Drains and Sewers course consists of six core modules and two specific to the drainage and sewerage industry. All individuals will need to complete all eight modules and pass the SHEA Drains and Sewers assessment to receive the SHEA Drains and Sewers registration. The programme may only be delivered by trainers approved by Energy & Utility Skills.The programme will be delivered through the context of the drainage and sewerage industry.

This EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers course is 1 day in duration.

Certification & Assessment

This drains and sewers course comprises of a trainer lead presentation, a health screening aspect and a multiple choice test. You will be called upon to share your experiences and thoughts throughout to build on the course material and to identify cases of good and bad practice. Once the SHEA Drains and Sewers course has been completed you will receive a EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers card.

Requirements to Attend the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers Course

A good level of written and spoken English is required to successfully complete the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers course online.

When Does the Card / Qualification Expire?

The EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers card is valid for 3 years from the date of training. After which the course will require renewal by anyone still working within the industry. Please note: the registration gained from the transition route will expire 3 years after the initial course.

How do I get an EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers Card?

Registration is based on successful completion of an EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers training course. Upon successful completion, a cover note will be issued by the trainer and trainees will be registered on the EUSR. Once the necessary paperwork and payment have been received the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers card will be issued within 28 days.

EUSR Registration

EUSR registration and card supply costs are £30 + VAT. It provides on-site evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge and awareness with regards to hygiene issues. It is also a pre-requisite for many other industry competence requirements and EUSR registration schemes.

What is the Online EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers Course?

The EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers course is available online. This online course is rolled out using Zoom or similar software options to achieve virtual classroom environment. To attend the online version of the EUSR SHEA Drains and Sewers course you must have access to a computer, laptop, tablet or phone that uses a microphone and webcam. All paperwork, instructions and log in details for the course are sent provided prior.
