The First Aid at Work Refresher qualification will update and re-qualify employees up to the standard required by the Health and Safety Executive for the purpose of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
New First Aid Legislation - October 2013
As of the 1st October 2013 the Health and Safety Executive is no longer required to formally approve first aid training and qualifications for the workplace. The law still states that employers should provide adequate and appropriate equipment and personnel to provide assistance to injured or ill colleagues, and provide trained first aiders based on their own needs assessment, this has not changed. The HSE will still ensure a standard of first aid training for the workplace is maintained.
A Provider You Can Trust
You must ensure that where your needs assessment indicates you need first aiders, they receive
training that will teach them the necessary first aid skills and leave them feeling confident that
they could respond to an emergency. To guarantee this, you should pick a training provider you can trust.

Please note: Existing qualifications will remain valid until the expiry date on the certificate. There is no longer a grace period to renew the qualification. Therefore once the date on the certificate has expired the individual is no longer a registered first aider. We would strongly suggest that this is taken in to account when booking a re-qualification course.
Examination and Assessment
On completion of the course, candidates will be assessed in practical and theory aspects of First Aid to the required standard. Successful completion of the assessment will result in the award of a ‘First Aid At Work’ certificate.
The First Aid at Work certificate will be valid for three years and should be renewed by attending a two-day refresher course before the expiry date of the certificate. Attendance on a three day First Aid At Work course will be compulsory if validity has lapsed. Certificates are issued by the British Red Cross a couple of weeks after the completion date of this course.
If you have a group of individuals requiring the First Aid at Work Refresher training, we can arrange to deliver the course on-site or at you premises. The maximum number of delegate per instructor is twelve, however if you have more delegates requiring the training and your venue is suitable we can provide additional instructors on the same day, alternatively at a later date.

"I have to say the instructor was the best I have ever had over the several first aid courses I have been on in the past few years. She kept us engaged and I felt I learnt more and retained more than I had previously, cant say enough how enjoyable and informative she made it – so thank you very much!!! "
"Nigel our instructor was excellent in his execution of the training. He put the information in such a way that it required you to think. He has a very easy and likeable manner whilst also getting the job done and the best out of us delegates. It would be nice if there was somewhere that we could have gone to relax in the lunch break, but other than that I was absolutely satisfied."
