Basic Scaffold Inspection Course

Our Basic Scaffold Inspection course is ideal for professionals who are in charge of statutory scaffold inspections on basic scaffolding structures. The course is suitable for those with at least 2 years of experience of working with scaffolding.

Scaffolders who want to expand their knowledge of scaffold inspection, site managers, and health and safety professionals can also benefit from taking this course.

Individuals who do not hold an eligible CISRS card must submit a Delegate Entry Check Form endorsed by their employer. The form must confirm they have at least two years of industry experience and knowledge of scaffolding structures through their role.

This course is not for beginners, but it will enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals already working with scaffolding.

Course Content

The content covered by this course includes:

  • Introduction to scaffolding terminology and relevant legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, NASC guidance (SG4:22 and TG20:21), and types of system scaffolding
  • Scaffold structures, including tube, fittings, boards, fan boards, public protection, and bracing and tying scaffolds
  • Scaffolders training and working methods, safe access and egress, ladder use, mobile, static and loading towers
  • How to carry out a scaffolding inspection, scaffold tagging systems, and a practical scaffold inspection exercise

Assessment

The trainer will assess your involvement in group exercises. You will also complete a practical assessment of scaffolding to demonstrate your understanding.

Prerequisites

You should have knowledge and experience working with scaffolding structures.

The following must be provided before attending the course:

Provide one of the following:

  • Current CISRS Scaffolder, Advanced or Supervisor Card
  • Expired or current CISRS Basic Inspection Card
  • Delegate Entry Check Form

Provide proof of Health and Safety training within the last 2 years:

  • SMSTS Certificate
