Abrasive Wheels Training Courses
Accredited and non-accredited abrasive wheels training courses for workshop operators, construction and maintenance workers, manufacturing and engineering staff and health & safety officers. Abrasive wheels are work equipment under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), which require anyone using, mounting or managing them to be competent and adequately trained.
Courses cover the hazards of abrasive wheels, wheel types and markings, safe storage and handling, correct mounting and balancing, guarding, speed limits, inspection and the safe operation of grinding and cutting wheels. Each course is advertised and delivered by an established, accredited provider, with classroom and online options available.
Available Abrasive Wheels Courses
Abrasive Wheels (Accredited)
Accredited abrasive wheels training covering safe use, wheel selection and markings, mounting, guarding, speed limits and inspection. Certificated by a recognised body for independent proof of competence.
Abrasive Wheels (Non-accredited)
Covers the same core safe-use content as the accredited course — hazards, handling, mounting, guarding and safe operation — as a quicker, lower-cost option where formal accreditation is not required.

Specialist training in the correct selection, inspection, mounting and testing of abrasive wheels on handheld and bench/pedestal grinders. Essential for anyone who changes wheels.
Who Should Attend?

Why Abrasive Wheels Training Matters
Under PUWER 1998, abrasive wheels must be used and mounted only by trained, competent people. Wheel bursts, flying fragments and contact injuries can be severe or fatal, and incorrect mounting is one of the leading causes of wheel failure. Proper training helps operators recognise hazards, work safely with grinding and cutting wheels, mount wheels correctly, and inspect equipment before use — reducing accidents, downtime and liability.
