About PASMA Training Courses

Founded in 1974, the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA) is the recognised authority for mobile access towers in the UK. PASMA governs the industry-standard training scheme for tower assembly, use, inspection and dismantling, suitable for everyone from first-time users to major contractors. For many employers, the PASMA card is the accepted proof of competence required under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Why PASMA Training Matters

PASMA sets and maintains the standard for the safe construction, use, inspection and maintenance of mobile access towers, working closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other industry bodies. Its training scheme delivers the proficiency and competence the Work at Height Regulations require, and the PASMA Code of Practice is the definitive reference for tower users, supervisors and managers. PASMA training centres are audited annually to ensure they continue to meet PASMA’s standards.

PASMA Certification

A PASMA Certificate and Photo Card is issued to delegates who pass the theory and practical assessment for the level they attend, valid for five years.

Please note: since 1 January 2022, PASMA no longer posts hard-copy certificates. Successful delegates receive a PASMA card showing the certificate number, plus a virtual certificate that can be stored and shared more easily. The virtual certificate is available once your card is issued and can be accessed via the PASMA check a card tool.

Available PASMA Courses

Alongside the renowned PASMA Towers for Users course, the association offers a range of specialist courses. Each is advertised and delivered by an approved, accredited PASMA training centre:

PASMA Towers for Users
The core PASMA course, covering the safe assembly, use, inspection, alteration and dismantling of mobile access towers. The standard qualification for anyone working with towers.

PASMA Towers for Managers
For managers and supervisors responsible for specifying, hiring and overseeing the safe use of mobile access towers, without the practical build element.

PASMA Low Level Access
Covers the safe use of low-level access platforms and podium steps for work at lower heights.

PASMA Combined Low Level Access & Towers for Users
A combined course covering both low-level access equipment and full mobile access towers in one programme.

PASMA Towers on Stairs
A specialist course for safely building and using mobile access towers on staircases and uneven ground.

PASMA Cantilever Towers for Users
A specialist course covering the safe assembly and use of cantilever towers where the platform must extend over an obstacle.

Which PASMA Course Do I Need?

Most operatives need PASMA Towers for Users, the core qualification for assembling and using standard towers. Managers and supervisors who plan or oversee tower work — but don’t build towers themselves — should take Towers for Managers. The Low Level Access, Towers on Stairs and Cantilever courses are specialist add-ons for specific equipment or site conditions. If you’re unsure which course fits your work, call 0808 1966 830 or make an enquiry.
