About the IPAF 3b Operator Course

This course enables delegates to become competent to drive MEWPs safely and in the correct manner. Upon successful completion, delegates will be issued with an IPAF PAL card that is recognised by the HSE, CITB, HAE and the Major Contractors Group (MCG). It also satisfies the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the PUWER regulations 1998.

Our IPAF Operator courses instruct how to prepare and safely use various types of access platforms, including scissor and boom lifts. You will be trained in the correct operation of the equipment, how to carry out a pre-inspection, emergency descent operations as well as being given an understanding of employers and employees responsibilities.

Who Should Attend

Anyone who operates a mobile elevating work platform requires a PAL card and this must be renewed every 5 years. Over 90,000 MEWP operators are trained every year worldwide through IPAF’s network of approved training centres.

CITB Grant Funding

This course qualifies for Tier 2 CITB Grant funding of £140 (subject to change by the CITB). GTAccess is a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and as such our customers are able to claim grants when completing certain courses. The value of the grant is dependent on the duration and content of the course.

Certification

The Powered Access License card (PAL), that is given upon passing the course, is recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Major Contractors Group (MCG) and is valid for 5 years.

Requirements

Delegates should be physically fit and able to bring along safety shoes, hard hat and gloves for the practical part of the training. A full body safety harness with adjustable restraint lanyard and proof of inspection within the last 12 months must be brought with the delegate on the day of training for 1b and 3b categories.
