Accredited Training for Safe LU Track Trolley Operations

Why take this course?

The Track Trolley Controller course qualifies individuals to safely operate London Underground–approved track trolleys in compliance with LU rules and current legislation.

It sets out the minimum requirements for safely handling, checking, and deploying track trolleys. On successful completion, participants receive a track certificate with the Track Trolley Controller endorsement, valid for two years.

What does the training involve?

The course teaches participants to:

  • Identify and operate different types of LU-approved track trolleys
  • Carry out pre-use safety checks (e.g., brakes and components)
  • Assemble and disassemble trolleys correctly
  • Understand when and where trolleys may be placed on LU infrastructure
  • Liaise with relevant LU personnel before, during, and after use
  • Safely remove and store trolleys after use

This training does not cover Network Rail sites – it applies to London Underground infrastructure only.

What to bring:

  • High-visibility clothing with your sponsor’s name printed on it
  • Sturdy safety footwear
  • Protective gloves – (PPE is not provided by the training centre.)

  • Safe placement and removal of trolleys on LU infrastructure
  • Communication and liaison with relevant personnel
  • Correct storage procedures after use
  • Practical handling under supervision

The course is delivered as a one-day programme, available during the day, evening, or night.
