First Aid at Work Requalification (Classroom) – St John Ambulance

Renew Your First Aid at Work Qualification in the Classroom

Refresh your lifesaving skills and stay compliant with the First Aid at Work Requalification (FAWR) course, delivered face-to-face by St John Ambulance. This 2-day classroom-based training is designed for those who already hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate—or whose certificate has recently expired. Covering key first aid procedures, from CPR to managing injuries and medical conditions, this course ensures you’re confident and competent to respond in emergency situations. Training is delivered by accredited instructors at centres across the UK, making it easy to find and book a course near you.

The First Aid at Work Requalification training course updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at Work certificate. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that you re-qualify within a month of your certificate expiring.

Who should attend the First Aid at Work Requalification Course?

This refresher course is for people wishing to renew an existing, valid First Aid at Work certificate.

If your certificate has expired you are still able to attend this course, but the HSE recommends you attend the First Aid at Work (3 day course) if more than a month has elapsed since expiry. Please note that the requalification course is an intensive course with very little practice time and designed for people whose certificate is still in date. If you do decide to attend the requalification course you will need to work at the pace of the course.

Delegates must be aged 18 or older to attend this course.

Candidates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2). While we are often able to provide support to people who do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. We may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.

Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)

*We’ve started bringing rescue breaths back into our training.
