Ladders and Stepladders Inspection Training

Delegates will be competent to:

  1. Assess and determine when it’s appropriate to inspect a ladder or stepladder
  2. Record finding & recommend action to be taken if faults are found
  3. Accurately record details of ladders & stepladders

They will have an understanding of:

  1. What they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladders
  2. Storage & handling of ladders & stepladders

Who will benefit from this Ladder Inspection training course?

Those whose duty is to inspect and maintain ladders & stepladders in their workplace

Course Duration

The course is planned to run over a minimum or 4 hours

Training Activity

  • Slide led – trainer providing information and asking questions
  • A group exercise on inspections & hazard analysis
  • An individual questionnaire on inspection of Ladders & Stepladders

Assessment Process

There are assessment activities:

  1. Multiple Choice Questions
  2. Ladder / Stepladders fault finding
  3. Carrying, positioning ladders & stepladders

Assessment

Closed book course with a pass mark of 80%

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Suitable head / footwear and gloves during the practical session is required.

Ladder Association Award

A Ladder Association certificate and LadderCard will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course. This has a five year validity period.

Literacy and Fitness Required to Attend the Course

Delegates must be numerate, literate and have a good command of English. They should be fit and capable of lifting, carrying and manoeuvring ladders and stepladders during the inspection process.

Qualifications and Experienced Required

Must hold a valid Ladder Association Users certificate and LadderCard to attend this ladder inspection training.
