The CABWI New Roads and Street Works for Operatives course is suitable for those who are already employed in the highways maintenance and utilities sector who require the skills to carry out excavation and reinstatement work.

CABWI NRSWA Course Content

LA – Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
O2 – Excavation in the highway
O3 – Reinstatement and compaction of backfill material
O4 – Reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
O5 – Reinstatement of cold lay bituminous materials
O8 – Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

Additional Units

O6 – Reinstatement of hot-lay bituminous materials
O7 – Reinstatement of concrete slabs

Certification and Assessment

Delegates will be required to take theory based assessments along with a practical assessment which will involve being observed on the job. On passing the operatives course, delegates will be issued with a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) card.
