Forklift Instructor trainees must hold a valid certificate of training on the equipment they are required to teach on. Course delegates must have undergone a test by an accredited instructor within twelve months prior to attending a Forklift Instructor training course, have the ability to adapt their approach to suit the needs of different trainees, be able to communicate effectively, and be able to lead and control.

Forklift Instructor training courses are highly participative and candidates will be expected to take part in all activities as the award of a Forklift Instructor training qualification is based mainly on assessed performance. Throughout the Forklift Instructor training course the attendees will be assessed and will receive regular feedback.

Successful candidates will have their names entered on a national register and will have the necessary qualifications to carry out training and testing as required by the Code of Practice. Forklift Instructor training qualification are typically valid for 5 years.
