What Will the Course Cover?
This course provides training which will help you to understand the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974. It will also help you learn how to carry out any work tasks on site in a way that adheres to the strict rules.
The course covers a great deal of information and some of the basic areas which are covered include risk assessments, excavations, working with scaffolding and demolition. The course will instruct participants in how to set up a work site safely and how to conduct a risk assessment. It will also cover method statements as well as techniques and proper procedures for working in confined spaces.
The course is five days in duration and it is essential to attend all of the days in order to successfully pass the course.
At the end of the course, participants must demonstrate that they understand what they have learned. Participants will be required to complete a final exam and if they pass they will be awarded with a certificate which is valid for a five year period. The certification can be renewed before the five years is up with a brief two day SMSTS Refresher course which will identify the latest changes in legislation and regulations.
